FILM CLIPS

Writer/Director Julian Overall and I met when we joined forces to compete in the Loftcity Viral Ad Award... we won!..(watch 'Get a Loft' on above PLAYER)... and we have been working together ever since. We've completed a promo for Oxalis (also above), a student film 'Kidnapped', a promo for 'Digital Cribs' (you can hear the music for this on my home page music player) and have plans and projects in the works.

Julian Overall studied media production in the UK before getting a job with Cromwell Productions Ltd., a TV company specializing in historical documentaries. Starting out as an editor, Julian cut programs shown on the History Channel amongst others. Moving into camera-operation, he worked with some rock bands, notably Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention and Uriah Heep, filming them on location and in concert. Now based in the Czech Republic, Julian is both a freelance camera-operator and filmmaker, producing videos for corporations, competitions and purely for fun. About working with Christopher Kaufman the Director writes:
" Christopher’s music really takes my humble films up a notch. I’m always surprised and delighted by the original compositions he comes up with. A good example of this is the Oxalis promo – the music stands up to repeated listens and conveys exactly what the company is about in a truly unique manner. In fact, I have it as a ringtone on my cell phone!"

Another winner of a 'LoftCity Award' was Italian director Eliana de Paolis. I contacted her and we collaborated on her film AZRAEL (watch on vid PLAYER above). AZRAEL is a dark gothic fantasy - he has returned to earth to avenge his murderer at the cost of his daughter's soul!

Eliana is a very talented young writer/director and works in a variety of film-related pursuits.
About herself Eliana Writes:
"I'm italian, from Rome. I'm a creative producer, which means I produce creative stuff such as films, photos, websites, events, crafts, writes ... there are no limits! I'm eclectic. I studied and worked as a video operator, online editor (avid, final cut, edius, premiere), photographer and graphic artist. I love the arts but I also love the technologies. I've a BAC degree in media and communication. I’m building a start up business with a friend - an audiovisual production company.

'LITTLE COURAGE' - is the work of writer director Veronic Caicedo.

LITTLE COURAGE follows the adventures of a young girl. In the first clip (PLAYER), she waits for her caretaker to fall asleep and she ventures out into the world on a secret mission. In the second clip you can see her dance about the city gathering coins and see her reach her goal - the moving reason for her adventures - before she returns home. In this film I used two pieces - 'friendship' and 'arabesque' - to express both the character's adventurous spirit and her deep empathy for the less fortunate soul she has befriended.

The CEO and founder of Caicedo Productions, Veronica Caicedo is an innovative writer, director and producer who has overseen more than 25 successful theatrical productions, directed projects and plays and served as Theater Director for Project Reach Youth and Teatro El Puente. Currently, she is the Managing Theater Director for Teatro LA TEA at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center, and Program Theater Director for the Loisaida Players at Loisaida Inc. Ms. Caicedo was filmmaker selected official for the 2008 SOL Dance Film Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah, 2008 Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Hostos Community College. She has served as a guest panelist for such organizations as HBO, Latinos for Positive Images, Urban Magazine, Boys Club of New York, Association of Hispanic Arts (AHA) and Teatro Stage Fest 07 (Latinas at the Helm).
Ms. Caicedo has extensive film experience. In addition to producing, writing and directing her first independent feature, Circle of Time, Ms. Caicedo also produced and directed an independent feature, Shut Up and Do It; an educational short film, “Loss Of Innocence In Loisaida,” and a 2 short films, “Little Courage” and “9/12.”

About working with Christopher Kaufman the Director writes:

"I Love Working with Christopher Kaufman! He is Brilliant. Best artistic experience of my life."

'The Last Son...' is the work of writer/director Varun Shah. He is of a school of young directors who are dealing in a bold yet sensitive way with issues related to the Iraq war. In this film young Tariq, an Iraqi living in the U.S. deals with the fact of his family back home in Iraq having been killed by an errant bomb. He is tortured by it and turns to violence. He also falls in love with an American girl and, in the end, this love prevents him from completing his act of desperation.

In the above clips (PLAYER) you see the opening of the film where I had the challenge of matching the music to the guitar solo, cleansing the sound and reading the ambiance of Grand Central Station (Last... clip 1). In the second clip you see Tariq building a bomb as his girlfriend watches tv in the next room. At the end the ghost of his lost brother's voice haunts him. In the third clip his girlfriend discovers his dark plans. The fourth clip, from earlier in the film, was a challenging one as a sound designer. There was a plethora of ambiant noise reverberating in the van which I cleaned. Then rain, thunder and gunshots sounds were added, dialogue retrieved and the undercurrent of musical material completes the sound design. In some ways this was the most challenging scene in the film.
